The Gepco XB20UB has been out of production for years, and people still go looking for it. We bought a 10ft sample to try. This is that length, and once it is gone we have no way to get more.
What made the X-Band line worth chasing is the combination of a very low 22.3 pF/ft with a genuinely slim 0.228″ jacket. Those two things usually pull against each other — low capacitance normally costs you diameter. Gepco got there with a foam polyethylene dielectric, and the payoff is minimal high-frequency rolloff over a long run in a cable that still fits a tight pedalboard and takes a standard plug barrel.
The shielding is the other half of it: two 95% tinned copper braids over a semi-conductive PVC layer. The braids handle EMI and RF; the semi-conductive layer handles triboelectric noise, the clicks and rustle you hear when a cable is moved or stood on. Very few instrument cables at this diameter are double-braided at all.

When the XB20UB dried up, Lake Cable’s AVB20UGC became the go-to replacement, and you will read all over the forums that the specs are identical. Having both datasheets in front of us: the shielding, gauge, and diameter genuinely match, but the Lake runs 28 pF/ft against the Gepco’s 22.3, and uses tinned copper rather than oxygen-free. It is a very good cable on paper. It is not this one. We have a 14ft length of it as well.
