The 2524 has been a studio and stage standard for years. The Mogami Gold is built on it, and so is ours, with Neutrik PX series connectors in black and gold. It’s the same wire either way. You’re paying for the cable and the work that went into it instead of the name on the box.
At 39.7 pF/ft (130 pF/m) the 2524 sits higher up our capacitance chart than most of what we build, and for a lot of players that’s the reason they choose it. Cable capacitance combines with your pickup’s inductance to set a resonant peak, and more capacitance moves that peak lower. Some guitars want that. A bright single-coil through a 2524 lands somewhere rounder and more vocal than the same guitar through an ultra-low-capacitance cable, which can read as thin or brittle depending on the rig. It’s a tonal choice, not a compromise, and it’s why the 2524 has stayed the standard while lower-capacitance cable has been available for decades.
A 20AWG oxygen-free copper conductor runs inside a high-density spiral shield with a conductive PVC screen beneath it, handling the static charge that flexing would otherwise turn into crackles through the amp. The jacket is where Mogami’s reputation gets physical: 0.236″ (6mm) of satin PVC that feels like nothing else on the market, and takes years of being coiled and stepped on without going chalky.

If you’d rather the cable stayed out of the way entirely, the Sommer SC-Spirit LLX runs 15.8 pF/ft and pushes the peak as high as we can get it. The Van Damme XKE sits in between at 27.4 pF/ft, and is the most flexible cable we build.
