Description
Platinum Gold is the brightest weave in the tweed series. Where the Dark Gold runs warm and the Black Gold hides its shine until you look twice, this one is pale and metallic across the whole length. It reads closer to a vintage amp grille cloth than to anything on a modern pedalboard, and it holds its own next to nickel hardware and a maple neck.
Under the sleeving is a Sommer SC-Spirit XXL: an 18AWG oxygen-free copper conductor, a braided shield, and 26.2 pF/ft (86 pF/m). Low capacitance for a conductor that heavy, which is what lets a 20-foot run keep its high end instead of quietly losing it on the way to the amp. The sleeving sits outside the jacket, so it changes nothing electrically — it adds abrasion resistance and brings the finished cable to 0.307″ (7.8mm).
