Description

The Revenant Preamp-Boost is an always on pedal designed to interact with your amp or IR to get the optimal amount of gain and harmonic content from your guitar or bass. When using it at high volumes it is ideal to push the front end of your amp all while EQ’ing to fit your particular instrument and/or sound-style. When used at lower volumes engaging the clipping option will add some compression and saturation without having to crank your amp. The boost also has two options, a full frequency boost and a high-pass filter boost. The latter is great for guitarists who want to tighten things up by adding saturation and volume without getting muddy. The full frequency boost keeps all the EQ but give you more. Because the boost comes before the preamp you will also get some added saturation. Use the Revenant at the end of your dry signal chain to fine tune the sound of your pedals. Once you’ve set your sound you’ll often find that the dirt pedals used before it sound better than they did before. The Revenant Preamp-Boost, Bringing your tone back from the dead.

Have been playing around on this thing all week. For me, it’s probably the nicest sounding, most feature set preamp I’ve played in recent memory…it instantly gelled with my guitar and amp. I love low gain drive, and this thing does it well. They asked me to showcase its heavier side and when I boosted it (with the second footswitch) I had to smile when I heard how explosive and fuzzy it got. Crazy range.

The EQ section (because not all are born equal, believe me) is fantastic. Can cut or shelve and everything is just smooth and doesn’t sound harsh when you crank the mids like many pedals can end up. High pass filter is awesome for immediate QOTSA tones. Silicon clipping mode or open mode. 2 gain stages from almost clean sparkle to full blown out Metallica worthy distortion.

I don’t see this leaving my board.

If you already dig the sound of your rig, and you want it to sound more-better all the time, and then have a second footswitch to send the more better into more-best territory, this pedal does that. It makes my p bass hit my GK rig with a magic spell Harry Potter would applaud. It punches with a heft and clarity that never gets muddy, and once you have it on, you’ll never turn it off.

This pedal is quite game changing. I don’t think I have ever used a pedal that the controls seem so dynamic. Every knob turned or switch flipped gives a new sound. Sounded great running my strat through it for low gain bliss and equally useable to push an already distorted sound with my Charvel.
In addition I was struggling to find a pedal that works with my modelers so well. I have tried a bunch of them and this is the first pedal that actually works well with it. I can’t wait to continue to dive into all the possibilities that this pedal offers. It will stay on my gigging board for a while!
