Description
Most sleeving covers a cable up. Liquid Carbon MDPC is woven from two kinds of sleeving — carbon and clear — so the silver cable underneath shows through the transparent sections instead of disappearing behind them. You get the woven texture and the cable itself at the same time, which is why this reads as a different cable rather than a dressed-up one.
Underneath is a full Sommer SC-Corona. Sommer built it as a phono and hi-fi interconnect, not for guitar, and studio players adopted it on the strength of its numbers: 23.8 pF/ft (78 pF/m) through a 20AWG oxygen-free copper conductor. Capacitance is what rolls the top end off a cable as it gets longer, and low figures like that are why a 20-foot run of this barely gives anything up.
The sleeving sits outside the jacket, so it changes nothing electrically. What it adds is abrasion resistance, about a millimetre of outer diameter — 0.299″ (7.6mm) sleeved, up from 0.264″ bare — the layer that takes the wear instead of the cable. Terminated with G&H Bigfoot nickel connectors in nickel housings, hand-soldered with lead-free ROHS-compliant silver solder, built to order and tested before it ships.
