Sommer didn’t design the SC-Corona for guitar. It was built as a phono and hi-fi interconnect, and Sommer’s own notes admit that its low capacitance was always going to tempt someone into plugging a guitar into it. Studio players found it, and it has been quietly circulating as an insider’s cable ever since.
The number that gets it there is 23.8 pF/ft (78 pF/m). Capacitance is what rolls the top end off a cable as it gets longer, and this one keeps it low enough that a 20-foot run barely gives anything up. The 20AWG conductor keeps the whole thing light — it coils without memory and lies flat on a stage floor rather than trying to return to the shape of its spool.
The transparent PVC jacket puts the construction on display, which is unique and very much the point. The silver OFC braid runs the full length of the cable and catches the light, so what you’re looking at is the shielding itself rather than a printed logo.

The Silver Tweed is this same SC-Corona under MDPC sleeving — same numbers, more armour, and a woven texture over the top of the transparent jacket rather than in place of it. Or if you’d rather have a heavier 18AWG conductor, the SC-Spirit XXL is the thicker build.
