There is exactly one of these, and there is no way to make a second. Sommer sent us a sample length of SC-Meridian 260 in grey; we liked it enough to put in an order for more, and what arrived was a completely different jacket. It turned out the sample had come from a custom run made for another company — not part of Sommer’s regular stock, and not something they could produce again. This 3ft cable is what came of the sample. One of one, in the literal sense.
It is a serious piece of speaker cable. Two 6.00 mm² oxygen-free copper conductors — 10AWG each — with DC resistance down at 3.3 Ω/km. On a speaker run, conductor cross-section is the spec that matters: the heavier the copper, the less of your amplifier’s output is lost as heat in the cable instead of reaching the driver. On a high-powered bass amp, where you are asking for real current at low frequencies, that difference is worth having.
At 3ft it is sized for a head sitting on top of its cabinet — long enough to route properly, short enough that none of it is coiled behind the rig. The jacket is a tough grey PVC rated for stage and outdoor use, and at 11mm it is a substantial cable in the hand.
Terminated with G&H Megafoot plugs in nickel, which are the oversized barrels built to actually close around an 11mm cable properly rather than pinching it. Soldered by hand with lead-free, RoHS-compliant silver solder, tested, and covered by our lifetime warranty.
Full disclosure: if nobody buys it, it’s going on our own bass rig. We’re not kidding — it’s one sexy cable.
