15.8 pF/ft (52 pF/m). That figure is the entire reason this cable exists, and it is the lowest capacitance of any cable on the market. Capacitance is what rolls the top end off a signal as the run gets longer — it’s the reason a 30-foot cable usually sounds duller than a 10-foot one. The LLX is the cable you reach for when the run is long and you don’t want to hear that it is.
Getting there took geometry rather than exotic materials. Capacitance falls as you push the conductor and the shield further apart, so Sommer built the LLX wider than a typical instrument cable — 0.283″ (7.2mm) — and filled the gap with a foam/skin PVC dielectric. The trade is usually stiffness, and this is where the LLX earns its reputation: it stayed genuinely flexible for its size. A 21AWG oxygen-free copper conductor of 19 fine strands does the rest.
Under the matte black jacket sits a braided OFC shield over a carbon screen, handling RF and electromagnetic interference between them. Terminated with G&H Bigfoot gold connectors in nickel housings, hand-soldered with lead-free ROHS-compliant silver solder, built to order and tested before it ships. Backed by our lifetime warranty.
