Description
The Sommer SC-Spirit XXL is a big cable that behaves like a small one. Its 18AWG conductor runs 42 strands of oxygen-free copper — heavy gauge by instrument cable standards — yet the foamed PE dielectric holds capacitance down to 26.2 pF/ft (86 pF/m). That combination is the whole point: you get the mechanical durability of a thick conductor without the high-end roll-off that usually comes with it, even on a 20-foot run.
The transparent smoke jacket lets you see the shield doing its work underneath — a tin-plated copper braid over a semi-conductive layer, which handles radio interference and the handling noise that plagues cheaper spiral-shielded cable. At 0.268″ (6.8mm) it has real weight in the hand and coils without fighting you.
Every one is built to order here in British Columbia with G&H Bigfoot black and gold connectors, hand-soldered with lead-free silver solder, and tested before it ships. It carries our lifetime warranty.
